One of the best reasons to get into search engine optimization (SEO) now is that there are so many cool apps available to help cut down on the amount of time you spend gathering data. In turn, you can spend more time on optimizing and improving your site. And isn’t that really our goal?
I’ve discussed other SEO apps for the iPhone and iPad before, but I’ve recently discovered a few more that I absolutely love.
iSEO Tools for the iPhone and iPad ($.99) – iSEO Tools is a search engine rank page (SERP) analyzer, in that it will tell you which page your website appears on in a search engine result for a particular keyword. This is the fastest way to find out exactly where your organic keywords fall in the search engine ranks. The only downside to this app is the fact that it doesn’t store your domains and keywords. If this app ever is made into an HD app for the iPad, it better let you store domains and keywords for fast checks.
iWebmaster for the iPhone and iPad ($3.99 iPad and $.99 iPhone) – This is another app that does not store domains for you; a fact made even more unfortunate by the more expensive iPad version, which still does not store domains. But this app is more for Google Webmaster Tools than it is for SEO. It has some SEO aspects to it, in that it will list the number of pages indexed in Google, Bing, and Yahoo and it lists the page ranks and Alexa rankings. However, plenty of other (cheaper) apps do the same. Now if you also need an app for detecting IP addresses, available ports, pings, DNS settings, and Whois settings, then this is definitely the app for you. I still wish it let you save domains.
SEO Pro for the iPhone and iPad ($1.99) – Now here’s an app that actually saves your domains. Not only that, but it’s also quite useful. It reports the metadata, page ranks, Alexa rankings, number of pages indexed, and backlinks to the site. This is really great for cross-checking your competition for metadata and page ranks as well.
Woopra for the iPhone (Free) – All SEO managers, analytics managers, and webmasters need to stop what you’re doing and sign up for Woopra immediately. Woopra reports LIVE analytics for your desktop, and it has a handy iPhone app for quick checks. Don’t think that the iPhone app skimps on any of the Woopra features, though. You will still see live reports of visits, visitor demographics (which includes location and system information), bounce rates, top landing pages, referrer sites, and search queries. And if that wasn’t enough, it also provides a calendar that displays all unique visits for any day and a map that will designate how many people in an area are accessing your site right now. The first time you realize all that Woopra can do, you will simultaneously realize that you won’t be able to live without it.
